Chubb names Jeremiah Konz to lead reinsurance buying & program design

U.S. and global primary insurance carrier and reinsurance company Chubb has named Jeremiah Konz as its new Chief Reinsurance Officer, giving him responsibility for the design and purchase of reinsurance programs for Chubb and its business units globally.

The new position will also see Konz taking management control of Chubb’s reinsurance recoverable asset and overseeing its relationships with reinsurance markets and brokers.

Konz will also serve as Chairman of Chubb’s Reinsurance Security Committee and become a member of its Global Credit Committee.

Before this promotion, Konz was the Executive Vice President, Reinsurance Officer for Chubb Overseas General, the firm’s international general insurance business.

He succeeds Michael Kessler, who previously led the reinsurance buying function but yesterday was named Division President of Chubb’s global cyber risk insurance business.

Konz will report to John Keogh, President and Chief Operating Officer of Chubb and his new position is effective immediately.

Konz has over 20 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience, with reinsurance buying and structuring placements a key focus throughout his career.

He joined Chubb in 2012 as Senior Vice President, Ceded Reinsurance for Chubb’s North American operations.  In 2018, he was appointed Reinsurance Officer for Chubb Overseas General.

Before Chubb, Konz worked at reinsurance broker Aon Benfield, providing analytic expertise to large commercial property reinsurance placements.
