Class Action Against Chase for OKing Early Withdrawals

A year ago, JP Morgan Chase Bank agreed to pay over $11 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging Chase improperly charged interest on paid off mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).

Now Chase is facing a new class action lawsuit proposed by angry homeowners in Wisconsin, alleging that JP Morgan Chase approved early withdrawal of a mortgage payment which sent their account into negative balance, affecting several transactions following the early mortgage payment withdrawal.  Chased charged several overdraft fees when the mortgage payments caused the account to run negative.  James and Darryl Ellis filed the suit June 14, 2019, hoping to change the policy of early payment withdrawal initiated by Nationstar and ok’d by JP Morgan Chase bank.
