Dan Bailey to depart Steadfast Re for McGill & Partners

Dan Bailey, a well-known London and international broker producer with expertise across treaty reinsurance, collateralised products and retrocession, is moving employers after a relatively short stint with Steadfast Re, landing at McGill & Partners.

dan-bailey-mcgillBailey had joined Steadfast Re, the reinsurance broking joint-venture of the Steadfast Group Ltd. and the ex-management team of broker Beach’s Sydney office, in October 2019.

Prior to that, Bailey had spent almost nine years working at JLT Re predominantly focused on reinsurance and retrocession broking, often with the capital markets as the ultimate home of the placement.

Now, Bailey has made the move to McGill & Partners, the boutique risk solutions firm launched by Steve McGill, who had served as Aon Group President for over a decade.

McGill launched the company in a tie-up with leading global private equity firm Warburg Pincus in 2019.

Bailey began his reinsurance market and broking focused career in the late 80’s and over the course of it has worked at a number of independent Lloyd’s and London based brokers, as well as spending some time at international giant Aon.

His expertise in reinsurance and retrocession, working with collateralised or ILS fund markets and broking instruments such as industry loss warranties (ILW’s) will help McGill & Partners expand its reinsurance practice reach.

Bailey has experience in broking insurance-linked securities (ILS) market products, including industry loss warranties (ILW’s) and other collateralised reinsurance or retrocession structures.

A McGill & Partners representative confirmed the hire with us but no further comment was available. It’s understood Bailey will have a few months of gardening leave to wait out before taking up the new position at the firm.
