The Art of the Cane

The first time I saw “Cane-Fu”, I thought someone made up the name as a witticism.  Cane-Fu is real.  The name was coined by the media in a Wall Street Journal writeup on the art of cane self-defense, as it is adapted for the elderly.  In spite of that, these canes are not just for seniors or the disabled.  Don’t mistake this art form with an outdated image of an elderly woman beating up a thug with her cane.  Cane-Fu is a robust and disciplined form of martial arts, and while it can be utilized by disabled seniors, it can also be used by those who simply appreciate Martial Arts and its fundamental disciplines.

One of the things I love about Cane Masters canes is that, in spite of being an effective martial arts weapon, Cane Masters canes are smooth edged and can be carried onto commercial airline flights, so Cane Masters canes can go anywhere with you.  What makes these canes an effective Martial Arts weapon is the training offered by Grand Master Mark Shuey.  Shuey is proud to share his knowledge and training in Cane-Fu through his Cane Master Virtual Dojo membership.  Because not everyone can make it to Lake Tahoe for training in person, Grand Master Mark Shuey offers membership online so you can receive training in the art of the cane.

Training in the art of the cane can help you develop strength and the confidence you need to stop being a victim and start gaining independence.  A cane, especially when handcrafted by a company like Cane Masters, Inc. can be smart looking.  Knowing how to defend yourself through the art of the cane is brilliant.
